General Chemics 1
Bromborough Pool 0
THIS was a poor Bromborough Pool outfit who had little to offer except, unfortunately for Chemics, an agile goalkeeper who time after time thwarted Chemics' attempts to turn this into a rout.
In the first half Chemics striker Pete Houghton missed a chance, Pete Nolan hit two shots wide and Mark Inghams fired tamely at the keeper when he should have scored.
So, goalless at the interval, enter Manager Jimmy Williams to get some fire into the Chemics' players bellies. Mark Savage and Paul Howard were introduced for the disappointing Pete Houghton and Pete Smith respectively.
Savage looked lively and Terry Noon came into the game more and more as the Chemics were well on top. Eventually a good ball by Mark Cahill gave Nolan the chance to hammer home the goal, which took the points. The skilful Howard missed a hat-trick of chances and he will reflect on what could have been. There were outstanding performances by centre-half Robbie Moore and front man Dexter Rismate.
Next Saturday Chemics face Cammell Lairds away, KO 3pm.
Chemics £100 weekly tote winner was S. Case with number 74
