VICTORIES for Norton A and RNA resulted in them making certain their respective Section Championships.
While they also look to be joined by Prospect Has Beens, the Section Five title will rest on Dreadnaughts result in their last fixture of the season.
Norton A ensured the Section two championship was theirs when they ran out 7/2 winners against Pavilions, although they were helped by Waterloo who ran out 6/3 winners against second placed Grangeway A. Docksiders remain in third place and Norton Arms are now level on points with Pavilions in a bid for a top four spot.
After leading Section Three all season, RNA finally made certain their Championship when they ran out comprehensive 8/1 winners against Tanners A. Pirates lost their outside chance of the title and slipped from second to third place after losing out 6/3 to Crofters.
Likely Lads were able to move up into second place after beating Blarney Stone 6/3. Fiddlers III's B Crowe produced a 16 dart game but his team still remain at the foot of the table after losing out 5/4 to Outcasts.
Unfortunately, Section Four team The Legion failed to put in an appearance against leaders Prospect Has Beens and this as good as handed the title to the leaders. Railway lost their chance of the title when they were somewhat surprisingly beaten 5/4 at home by Grapes Apes after previously leading 4/2.
Although they ran out 5/4 winners against Dock Lads, Dreadnaughts have slipped into second place in Section Five with Union Tavern now having a slightly better average after beating bottom place Newcastle 8/1. With Dreadnaughts have to win their remaining fixture to make certain of the title.
Windy Lads, in third place, still have a chance of taking the title after gaining their fifth successive victory.
Section One Champions Albion suffered their second defeat on the run when they lost out 6/3 to fourth placed Lion Doo Waps. The battle for the runner-up spot was finally decided when second place Dockside B ran out 5/4 winners against third placed Halfway A.
Halfway Gents were able to move off the foot of the table when they beat Jolly Brewer 5/4.
This seasons KO Cup Final will be contested between old rivals Albion and Dockside B.
In the Semi Finals, Albion accounted for Section Two opponents Norton A 7/2 with Dockside B running out 6/3 winners against Section Three's Pirates.
The end of season play offs will begin on Thursday, September 24, when the preliminary round of the Town Championship will be staged. The first rounds of the competition will get under way the following night.
The draws for these competitions will take place at the Waterloo this coming Sunday at 12.30pm.
