Stephanie Maddock, aged six, of London Road, was given a gold ring by her granddad on his 60th birthday, but she managed to misplace it under the floorboards of Malcolm Wood men's hairdressers in Castle!
Mum Janice, 30, said: "We were searching high and low for it and went back to the hairdressers where we'd been. We never thought anything of it after that - it had sentimental value more than anything else.
"I couldn't believe it when I picked up the Northwich Guardian last week. It was really weird to read about Malcolm's appeal for the owner of the ring.
"I can't believe after all this time he found it and that he actually remembered us losing it!
"Stephanie's granddad, Ken, buys all his grandchildren presents on his birthday. We never actually told him we'd lost the ring - after he saw the story we had to come clean!"
Malcolm, who discovered the ring when he had a new floor put in the hairdressers, added: "It was worth it all just to see the little girl's face when she got it back!"
