PROBLEMS with fish thieves have been reported and Warrington Anglers' Association members should be on the lookout for either a blue or white transit type van or any vehicle you consider suspicious near our fisheries.
Whatever the circumstances do not attempt any heroics.
Just note down vehicle details and ring the police immediately. Your prompt action could avert a serious theft.
On the brighter side the Trent and Mersey Canal has improved with skimmer and roach catches to 10lbs from Billinge wides and Morrisons. Occasional perch to 2.5lbs on worm.
The Bridgewater is still the best bet with quality bream showing to 4lbs and plenty of skimmers and roach.
Three chub of 1lb were among a catch from Moore which included a mixture of skimmers, roach, gudgeon, perch and a crucien carp.
The fish were taken on caster and squat by member Harry Thompson who fished a small waggler up against overhanging brambles.
Ivor Brown fished a bronze maggot under on a slider float at Moore Quarry on Sunday and caught roach around 8ozs for a net of 7lbs.
Grey Mist Mere is fishing well having seen a resurgence in interest since we started our weed treatment. Lots of small tench to 8ozs being caught. Best carp catch five fish.
HQ Parker Street is open as usual tonight for new members, subscriptions, or just drop in for a chat about fishing. I can be contacted with your queries or catch reports on 01928 716238, fax 713898.
Best of luck to our Junior and Intermediate Teams who are fishing in the NFA (North West) Championships tomorrow, Saturday, on the Leeds/Liverpool Canal at Apply Bridge, Wigan.
