A DISCO diva from Warrington set the dance floor alight when she won first prize in a national competition even though she made her routine up on the spot!
Gemma Lamonby, aged 14, of Applecross Close, Gorse Covert, thought she had finished last at a freestyle disco championships in Southport after watching her opponents' well-rehearsed routines.
Instead the Birchwood High pupil scooped first place in the 13 to 17 category after the tense final dance-off.
"I couldn't believe I won because I was really making it up as I went along.
"Some of the girls had worked for months on their dances and I thought I had no chance. When they announced the decision I just screamed," she said.
Gemma is now busy rehearsing for her next big gig as a backing dancer for boy band Ultra, who are performing at the Parr Hall next week.
She added: "I also model as well as dance but I want to do something that involves working with and helping people when I leave school."
