IT'S NATIONAL Cat Week and Culcheth and Glazebury Cats' Protection League has launched a desperate appeal for help for its homeless felines.
The group handles hundreds of cats each year and is always in need of extra cash, food and foster homes. The money it raises is spent on feeding, vets bills and neutering for abandoned cats and feral colonies. Before winter sets in, money is also needed to buy heated pads to keep the cats, who are housed in sheds, warm during the cold weather.
National Cats' Week is designed to raise awareness of the work the League does and appeal for further assistance.
The Culcheth and Glazebury group is holding an attic and jumble sale to raise funds for the worthy cause. It takes place at Newchurch Parish Hall, Common Lane, Culcheth, on Saturday, September 19 from 9.30am to 1.30pm. Admission is 20 pence or a tin of cat food.
