CORNFLAKE crunchers are being helped to face the day by new dad Mark Edwardson.

Mark, from Congleton, started a new job on Monday as the breakfast show presenter for BBC Radio Stoke.

For Mark, aged 31, who has been at the station for six years, his new role is the realisation of a lifetime's ambition.

"Ever since I started out in broadcasting I have always wanted my own show,'' he said.

Mark began his working life as a local authority rent collector before periods with various independent local radio stations in the North West after gaining a postgraduate diploma in television and radio.

He joined Radio Stoke in 1992, and recently enjoyed a year's attachment as a television reporter with BBC Midlands Today.

His new show means Mark getting up at 4am, which doesn't worry him unduly, with his baby daughter Alexandria being an early riser!
