WHEELOCK By-pass revels will stretch from 10am through to the evening this coming Sunday, September 20.
Sandbach Lions and contractors Gallifords have teamed up to stage the events for a grand CELEBRATION DAY.
From 10am to 3pm the events, set up by the Lions, will be at the Sandbach end of the new road which emerges onto the roundabout by the Safeways store.
More than 30 charities and organisations will be setting out their stalls in a bid to raise cash for themselves and for the good causes supported by the Lions.
Competitions and attractions include a chance to win a helicopter ride, tombola stalls, games, car boot sales, children's specials and a tug of war competition.
Walk on the road
THERE will be a chance to walk on the new road! For £1 that will go to St. Mary"s Church Organ Appeal, visitors can step out along the by-pass before its official opening.
The fun walks are at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm.
Leading the 11am walk will be MP Ann Winterton, County Council Chairman David Newton, Borough Mayor Rod Fletcher and Sandbach Town Council chairman Tony Walker.
The 12.30 walk is a fancy dress walk, with prizes donated by Gallifords;
1st prize is a colour portable TV; 2nd prize a Sony Walkman and 3rd prize a £25 record voucher.
The 2pm walk will be the last opportunity to walk the by-pass before it is opend to traffic.
FIREWORKS and brass band music at the Wheelock end of the road. 7pm -9pm
The evening, organised by Gallifords, will bring the celebration day to a fitting close.
Music will be proivded by the Port Sunlight Lyceum Brass Band with Celebration Designs providing the firework display.
The closing spectacular will be staged at Canalside Farm, Cotton Lane, Wheelock, where contractors Gallifords have had their site office. (Turn off the Crewe road at the Nags Head public house, into Mill ?. Cotton Road is just past the pub on the left)
Car parking will be on the by-pass.
Gates will be open at 6.3pm. BBQ and light refreshments will be available or take your own refreshments - but no barbecue. Also take your own chairs.
Tickets for the evening are £5. Children £2.50 and family ticket £12.50 (2 adults + 2 children). From Demeter Wholefoods, Sandbach, Moore's card stall, Hightown Menswear, members of St. Mary's church and Sandbach Lions Club.
