Lymm u16s 20

Widnes u16s 7

A WELL-DRILLED, determined Lymm side took the game by the scruff of the neck and led all the way. The only bright spot for Widnes was a try from winger Edge. Hopefully the result will serve as a serious lesson to all concerned.

ON a day more akin to a holiday in the Florida sunshine, Lymm bolstered by squad members from Widnes, were subjected to a lesson in how to play rugby.

Widnes, looking strong in all departments, played their rugby with a maturity above their years and the large crowd were treated to how the game should be played.

Everyone went through drills and practises but there were particularly fine performances from Glover and Spencer at half-back.

A strong show by King at his favoured prop position was another highlight. Special thanks to Langon, Walbourne and Iggy who turned out for Lymm.

Wids Kids u11s 7

WIDNES u11s got their season on the road with a narrow win against a mixed Burnage u11s and u12s side.

The early pressure was all from Widnes with John Newton finishing off a move from short-range after forwards Farrow and Carr had got Widnes into a good attacking position, Cosgrove converted.

Debutantes Chris O'Donnell and Matthew Hatchard were both impressive and with Healey set the platform for a strong display from Widnes.

Farrow, Woods and O'Donnell all came close to stretching the lead but were all stopped just short.

Burnage broke the Widnes line on a number of occasions but could not beat full-back Mitchell.

Fleetwood Rugby Festival

WIDNES RU Juniors entered two under eight teams into the tournament which were split in the two halves of the draw.

The A team were the full under eight team and the B team were under age players normally playing as under sevens.

Both teams performed very creditably in a tournament where standards were high.

The A team were unlucky not to reach the semi-finals being eliminated only on goal difference and the B team drew one and lost two games.
