AN ACCIDENT on Runcorn Expressway has prompted calls on Halton Council to introduce better road markings.
The incident, involving a bus and roadworks van, happened when the van lost control and went into the front of the bus, leaving several passengers needing treatment.
And one passenger, Don Sumner, of Norton Hill, believes the lack of markings to signify location on the Expressway brings difficulty when summoning the emergency services.
"I reckon there should be numbers along every part of the road. There should be some kind of markings.
"If there's an accident or emergency and you call the police the first thing they say is 'Where are you?'," said Don.
He claims the accident was caused by an asphalt roller coming off the back of the van, causing it to swerve into the bus.
A spokesperson for Halton Council said the council had only assumed responsibility for Runcorn expressway in April.
"We are not aware of any plans in the past under Cheshire County Council to identify or number the areas of the expressway.
"However, it is certainly something we could consider in the future," she added.
