A WOMAN who accidentally took an overdose of painkillers was too ill to undergo an essential liver transplant, an inquest heard at Warrington.
Ann Baxter, 49, of Hillfield, Norton, had been in great pain, the inquest was told.
Coroner John Hibbert recorded a misadventure verdict.
"There is absolutely no suggestion she intended to do away with herself," he said.
The inquest was told Mrs Baxter was transferred from Halton to St James' Hospital, Leeds, for a liver transplant.
But she was not well enough to be given the transplant and died on February 18.Pathologist Mohammed Al-Jafari said significant damage was caused to Mrs Baxter's liver and this led to damage to other organs.
Death was due to multi-organ failure.
