Suzanne and Jennifer Wright have both claimed major national show-jumping honours in the last two weeks.

Suzanne, 14 and a pupil at Leftwich High School, was crowned as the British Show Pony Society champion in Peterborough last week.

The BSPS is the pony championship show of the season.

Suzanne was up against the best and managed to beat all the ponies in each height section of the restricted show hunter category.

She was also Reserve Supreme Champion for the whole event on her horse, Cwmaddoc Impression.

The biggest individual event of all comes later this week in London.

That is when Jennifer, 11, takes part in the National age-group Championships at Wembley.

She will be hoping to end a very successful season on a high note.

Jennifer, a pupil at Cransley School, earned her Wembley place with victory last week in a qualifier at Stafford.

That followed her impressive seventh place at the Hickstead Royal International, an event she has already qualified to compete in again next year following a win at the British Elite meeting in Milne Row, Lancashire.

At Wembley Jennifer will ride in the Under 14s working hunter pony class on her horse, Parkhill Bobby Dazzler.

Sadly, it will be the last time the pair compete together.

Jane, mother of the girls, explained: "Jennifer has out-grown her pony and so we will have to sell it later in the year.

"It is a shame because they have got a partnership going and can spur each other on. They understand each other."

The girls' mother was also full of praise for the success of both Suzanne and Jennifer.

"They have both done tremendously well this year.

"But driving them all over the country can be dreadful," joked Jane.
