Speaking at the annual presentation evening, Jack Tasker said: "This was the most successful year in the history of the college and a fine tribute to the talent and industry of our students and the dedication and commitment of our staff."
The college had an average points score of 22.52 in A level results which Mr Tasker hoped would put the college's students among the top five of the 450 colleges in England and Wales.
But Mr Tasker said sixth form education was more than just A levels. Students should take away a great deal more than certificates, important though they were.
He highlighted just a section of activities involving former students.
This year the charities committee has sent 125 sets of education equipment to Albania though Children Aid Direct, raised £472 for the homeless, supported the Poppy Appeal in college and street collections for Barnardo's raised more than £1,400 for Marie Curie Cancer Care and £495 for a charity for non-mobile children.
Several students have been involved in helping with Winged Fellowship providing holidays for the disabled, others have worked in community placements such as the Shopmobility scheme, the Imperial Cancer Research Shop and Stepping Stones, the residential home for the deaf.
Meanwhile the Student Council has given £1,000 to charities and raised a further £1,000 through a fashion show an Easter social and sponsoring a former student to run in the London Marathon.
