Town has bad
day at office
Knutsford 0
Linotype 2
KNUTSFORD fell to their second defeat of the season when they travelled to Linotype.
They were reduced to 10 men after only 20 minutes when goalkeeper Daine Johnson sustained a suspected dislocated finger.
Last week's hero Ryan Gilligan was sent off after he retaliated to a Lino man with a kick and though hardly connected the opposition was sent to the floor in agony. Within seconds of Gilligan's exit, Steve Kenyon was the victim of what seemed a foul tackle on the half-way line which went unpunished.
As the defender lay in pain the ball was knocked into the space he had vacated and Chris Byrnes scored with a diving header.
On the hour Knutsford's serious injury list was added to when Kenyon went up for a header and was accidentally caught in the ensuing collision.
Knutsford's player of the year last season suffered a triple fracture to his cheekbone and underwent surgery on Sunday.
It is an injury that will keep him out of the game for some time and a cruel twist of fate for the dependable player.
Liam Gilsenan punished sloppy Knutsford defending to score a second Linotype goal 12 minutes from time.
On Saturday Knutsford have the arduous task of travelling to meet double champions and league leaders Barnton (3pm).
Kenny Harrison's list of injury and suspension problems are compounded by the absence of forwards Dow and Gilligan as Knutsford's playing strength is stretched to its limits.
