BRIGHT sparks at Alsager School have danced their way to fund-raising success.

Year Eight pupils presented £1,000 last week to the Alsager support group of the Hope House Hospice.

The money represented just part of a whopping £8,500 charity total raised by the pupils during the last school year.

The money was raised through a variety of events including discos, car washing and sponsored events.

The hospice cheque was presented by Year Nine head Brenda Steel, last year's Year Eight and pupils Kath Riley and Jenna Goode.

The pupils are also due to present further cheques for £1,000 to Leighton Hospital and a high school in Namibia.

The hospital cheque is due to be used towards the cost of equipment for the paediatric unit.

The school has links with a school in Oshilemba, Namibia, and the £1,000 will help towards the cost of putting a roof on a classroom.
