GARDEN lovers across the borough should be able to buy special compost bins at a one off price in October.

The environmental services committee has approved the possibility of a one-day sale of the Compostabin.

The bin, developed by Blackwall Products, is already promoted by the borough council through the on-going composting campaign.

It is offered at a delivered price of £21.95 but a sale at a car park in the borough is planned with the bin on offer at a further reduction.

Vale Royal and Congleton Borough Councils are also holding sales of the bin on September 27.

The target for the sales is 1,500 bins and they would be sold for £10 with no limit on the number for each household.

A council spokesman said: "The advantageous price and method of sale has been highly successful in other areas increasing the interest in home composting and, consequently, reducing the amount of waste to landfill."

Afterwards the company would also extend the scheme to postal requests from the borough's News and Views at a cost of £10 plus £4 delivery for a limited time.

The 1 day sale would cost about £5,000 for advertising and management which could come from the existing budget.
