SINCE early 1994 I have been reporting blocked street drains (gullies) in the Stockton Heath and Appleton area to the Warrington Borough Council and local councillors. There are 36 still blocked in a short walk from the village centre. The same drains were reported by me in 1994.
I have received a copy of the Report of Directors Technical Services dated August 6, 1998, maintenance of Highway Drainages, stating that the regular cleaning of gullies is designed to remove build up of silt, etc.
This is not being done, a vehicle brushes over the top and leaves the gullies still blocked for another six months or more. In the report paragraph 3.1 it states: "There are 1293 gullies in need of attention in Warrington" (more than that I would say). In paragraph 3.3, priority is mentioned, the main priority is supervision and so make better use of manpower and money.
I have been reporting a lamp standard in Dingleway, number five, needing attention for six weeks. On August 28, services turned up and apparently changed a light bulb but no light has appeared. This has been reported twice since, each time I am told by the Street Lighting Department that it takes 10 days.
