THE picture of Warrington Baths on the front of last week's GUARDIAN brought back memories of when I was a schoolboy before the war. I think all the boys in Warrington learned to swim in the "Twopenny Baths."
I can remember shouting "hot water, Charlie" to the attendant for the shallow foot bath only for him to throw a bucket of cold water over us before we jumped into the water. Happy days for just twopence.
