CICILY Mill Pool is the hot spot for Warrington Anglers' Association members keen to bag up on bream, carp, cruciens and tench to 5lbs.
Grey Mist Mere fished well over the weekend with eleven upper doubles and one twenty reported on Friday and similar on Saturday when Mark Preston banked another twenty.
Rixton Claypits are absolutely teeming with tench to 2lbs which are taking any bait fished in the margins.
I managed several visits to the Bridgewater Canal this week and caught a gudgeon, roach or skimmer to 1 lbs every cast - and all the bait bill amounted to was half a Warburtons medium sliced loaf!
Plenty of skimmers and bream showing on the most popular stretches along with carp to 8lbs.
The N.F.A. Division Five National is being held tomorrow, Saturday, covering most of the Northern Anglers end of the canal with two sections on our length at Broadheath. If it fishes to form I would expect the winner to come from Broadheath Marina.
Teams competing in the Top Team Challenge event on October 31 must get their entries in to Chris Grehan before October 1. He can be contacted on 635373.
The Trent and Mersey Canal is producing 30lbs catches of bream from the wides to corn or red maggot and worm. Roach to 6ozs on white maggot.
Try Almere Ferry at the mouth of the River Alyn for grayling to 8ozs. On the main river one member got fed up with catching the small stuff and put out a legered meat offering. The result was a few missed bites, a total rip off and a chub of 4lbs.
Well done to our junior and intermediate squads who had an excellent result on last Saturdays N.F.A north west region match on the Leeds Liverpool canal at Appley Bridge,Wigan.
Ian Proudman came top in the intermediate event and the rest of the gold team won their sections to give the team a perfect score and an overall win.
The blue team were in a creditable third position. Our juniors were unlucky to miss out on a win in their event they were beaten into second place by one point!
Unfortunately one of the team members had some really bad luck when he discovered a huge hole in his keepnet at the weigh and all his hard caught fish had disappeared.
HQ Parker Street is open as usual tonight for new members, subscriptions or just drop in for a chat about fishing. I can be contacted with your queries or catch reports on 01928 716238, fax 713898.
