Wakefield Trinity u19 16
Warrington Wolves u19 34
WAKEFIELD fielded a much stronger team than the one beaten 80-0 by the Wolves Academy team earlier in the season but they were still no match for Warrington.
And this was despite the young Wolves being without Will Cowell, Phil Finney and David Highton, who were on first team duty, plus injured stars like Paul Noone and Graham Howard.
Ian Sibbit opened the scoring on six minutes, taking a delightful pass from John Duffy to stride over. Duffy converted.
Trinity equalised before Andy Barr showed his pace to beat three defenders for a try. John Hill forced his way over to give Warrington a 14-6 lead but it was 14-10 at the break.
Warrington dominated the second half. Gareth Barber scored and then Barr and Sibbit added their second tries for a 30-10 lead.
This was increased to 34-10 with a 60th minute Neil Callon try before Trinity replied with the last six points.
Team: Andy Gornik; Andy Barr, Neil Callon, Gareth Barber, Danny Buckley, Stephen Kirkbride, John Duffy; Stephen Dootson, Sean Penkywicz, Lee Tyman, Ben Simpson, John Hill, Ian Sibbit. Subs: Paul Tobin, Phil Arkle, David Fernley, Ian Parry.
