PEOPLE who have experienced mental health difficulties are being offered new beginnings at a housing development dedicated to a former Warrington Mayor.
Day-to-day support is offered to tenants of Syers Court - named after the late housing chairman George Syers - as part of the joint Making Space and Grosvenor Housing Association initiative.
Housing officials invited Clr Syers's widow Margaret to perform the opening ceremony on Monday and she was impressed by what she discovered.
Mrs Syers said: "It was a beautiful development - all of the fittings, like cushions covers and bed-spreads, were made by people from Making Space.
"George fought very hard for this when it came to the planning committee as there were quite a lot of objections.
"The bungalows are very nice and will be very good for the village of Padgate as everyone living there will be doing their shopping in the area."
Situated off Orford Road, there are 10 bungalows on-site, office accommodation for a tenant support worker and a home for a resident caretaker, who will act as a good neighbour for tenants.
