Garswood Utd 2 Middlewich Town 0
Mid Cheshire League
TOWN started this match in confident mood, with the return of Terry Cain and Ian Tier and also making his first appearance of the season was Steve Burgess who started on the substitutes' bench.
But it was Garswood who put the visitors under pressure early on, and only good work by Tier and Swift kept them at bay.
Middlewich had their first effort on goal when Moss threaded a ball through for Langley who crossed for Caldwell to head just over the bar.
Garswood created all kinds of problems for Town down the left, and it was Heeson who went on a run from the half-way line. His low drive at goal took a deflection off Jump and looped over Walton to put the home side ahead just before the interval.
Gavin Tier was then played through by Moss, rounding the keeper only to see his shot roll agonisingly past the post.
The second half saw the introduction of Steve Burgess as a centre forward to give Town a three-pronged attack.
And this certainly sparked Middlewich into action, with Langley, Caldwell and Burgess all going close, but they couldn't get that elusive equalizer.
Town's last effort came 10 minutes from time when Langley produced a cross which beat Garswood's keeper. The ball fell to Gavin Tier only four yards out, but again he missed the target.
In the dying seconds Gary Laird beat the offside trap and shot past the stranded Walton, to give the home side a 2-0 win.
