WINSFORD and District Motor Club's Pete Salt (pictured above) produced a classic ride last week to clinch another major title in his 39-year career.
He won the 1998 Manx Classic Weekend Trial, which was competed for over the weekend of September 5 and 6.
It was down to Pete's faultless performance on the Sunday when he steadied his nerve, and his wheels, to beat off a field of 136.
He said: "I lost one mark on the Saturday trial, which was in the southern part of the island and I was tied with two others who had also lost one mark.
"The northern part the next day was a harder section, more rocky, but it was very, very, good and I lost no marks."
Pete, who lives in Sandbach, received his trophy from Donald Gelling, the Prime Minister of the Isle of Man, at a presentation on Sunday night.
He has previously been British Twin Shock champion in 1989 and 1990 and is Cheshire's current over-40 champion - but there could still be more to come from the 54-year-old.
He said: "As long as I can stay fit there's no problem. It is a very physical sport but I'm riding nearly every weekend."
