A great start was made easily brushing aside Trafford. All the hard work done in the summer by the youngsters come to fruition with six tries scored by Williams, Oliver, Mayer, Rimmer and two by Mom, Lang. Magen and Tavoulareas tackled gamely to limit Trafford to one try. The second game against Caldy was a much closer encounter with both defences on top. Good displays from Griffin, Farrow and Anderson laid the foundations for an excellent game of end-to-end rugby. The only Widnes try came from Schofield squeezing in the corner only for Caldy to equalise and finish the game all square.
