PLANS for new industrial starter units in Halton Brook have been submitted to Halton Council.

The plans by GS Cold Storage are for 12 new units and car parking on land on Halton Road adjacent to their offices. The land was formerly the site of a lard refinery and was recently in use as a builder's merchants.

Under the proposal, the site would be developed with a block of seven units, with five smaller units running parallel to them. Parking would be provided along the northern boundary of the site and access to the development would be via the existing entrance on Halton Road.

At the moment the land is being used by GS Cold Storage employees for parking and provision for them to continue to park on the site has also been included. The council's Highway's Engineer has raised nu objection to the proposal on highway grounds.

The site is located within an employment area and the council's policy would be to retain land for business and industrial use and restrict non industrial uses. The proposal from GS Cold Storage complies with this policy.

The recommendation is that the Committee approve the plans subject to conditions.
