THE Millennium Bug will have a sting in the tail for business who don't check if their own computer and business systems can cope with the problem.
Experts reckon legal wrangles, after the turn of year 2,000 could cost some companies dearly. They claim firms will blame each other and their computers for losses caused by failure to meet delivery and other deadlines - and believe compensation claims could be substantial.
But Business Link Vale Royal is offering Cheshire firms the chance to check their computers with a new piece of software Safeguard 2,000.
Information Services Officer Stephanie Clarke explained: "It is a unique piece of software which gives businesses a detailed risk assessment for every part of their operation.
"It is not simply a method of checking whether your system is millennium ready or not, but offers a methodology for establishing the levels of risk faced by every department within your businesses so that managers can then take the appropriate action."
