I wouldn't say I've booted players out - players have come and players have gone like Kevin Langley and Brian Griffiths to Rhyl.

I've brought in people like Charlie Boyd and Lee Prior who've helped strengthen the side.

Up front, Darren Twigg has been a good signing but I think the other lads have got to take the responsibility for scoring a bit more. If Twiggy doesn't score, we tend to struggle a bit in that department. I decided to play with three centre-backs and it's gone well up to now. But Danny Gee has played a couple of games and was perhaps a bit unlucky not to be in the side at Whitley after the way he played against Crewe.

I think the system has got us results, but now we need to turn the draws into wins.

I think we can get stronger. I think that if the lads up front turn their chances into goals, we can move up the league quite steadily.

As a manager you want to win the league and at the moment I think we're two or three players short.

But I have to work within the budget and at the moment 14, 15 or 16 players is all I can work with.

The lads have responded well. They've had 12 months with Kevin Tully, who's a good friend of mine, and they've done well. Since I've started they've shown a really good attitude and confidence is coming.

If they stay in that frame of mind I think we can start moving up the league.

I would like to think we can get into the top six by Christmas.
