The win ended a personal jinx for Jan Cartman, who had never before played on a winning side, either for Northwich or his previous club, Winnington Park.
He played his part in the win too, helping set up the all-important try which turned the tide in the hosts' favour early in the second half.
Cartman combined with Chris Chaplin to find Steve Campbell who broke through two tackles before bursting over to score.
That put Northwich ahead for the first time in the match after Nethehrall had scored three penalties in the opening quarter of an hour and another before the break.
The home side took time to settle, with Chaplin replacing the ill Jez Owens, Owen Oakes slotting in at centre and coach Chris Brierley making his first appearance of the season.
Gradually Northwich found their way back into the match with Peter Scott, who converted Campbell's try scoring a penalty to make it 12-8 at half-time.
Both sides added a penalty before the end - and both were reduced to 14 men, Northwich's Dean Thompson sent off for a retaliatory punch at the Netherhall hooker.
