CONGLETON'S rugby men ran in a string of first-half tries on Saturday as they demolished St Mary's Old Boys 37- in the league.
Congleton took the lead at home after only 60 seconds when Mark Winship kick a penalty.
Following a srummage in the fifth minute Jamie Woodman crashed over for Congleton's first try of the match, with Winship's conversion extending the lead to 10-0.
Woodman dived under the posts 10 minutes later for his second try, a touchdown once again converted by Winship.
In the 24th minute John Brookes crashed over the try line following an inspired moved by winger Nick Cooke, and Winship converted.
Congleton had earned 24 points in as many minutes to leave St Mary's shellshocked.
The Congleton points scoring machine struck again on the half hour when Darren Cashmore burst through the defence for an unconverted try in the corner.
The home side added to their opponents' misery with a further touchdown on 35 minutes when Richard Burkard sneaked through from a scrum five metres out.
The game was all over at 34-0 at the break, but St Mary's earned a consolation try in the 70th minute, only for Congleton to score a final penalty through Winship five minutes later.
