ROMANIAN orphan Nicolete Spinache is to undergo a vital operation thanks to the generosity of a Congleton man.

The family man, who wishes to remain anonymous, put up the £200 needed to pay for an ear operation for Nicolete, who suffers from deafness.

Nicolete was brought over to Cheshire for the holiday of a lifetime this summer by nursery nurse Sue Simpson, from Herbert Street, Congleton.

She is due to be officially fostered by orphanage care assistant Monica Lazar, who flew over with Nicolete this summer.

The youngster is set to undergo an ear operation, and Sue and Monica have found a private teacher for Nicolete to help her cope with her deafness and to teach her to read and write.

Sue is also helping to bring a smile to the faces of Romanian orphans after setting off on Thursday on her 16th mercy mission!

She travelled to Romania in a van packed with educational toys and sports equipment donated by the people of Congleton, Cheshire and Staffordshire.

"There are so many people to thank, including the wonderful readers of the Congleton Guardian,'' said Sue.

Among those who supported the mercy mission were Alan Jukes from Congleton, St Gabriel's, Alsager, Mr Shemilt from Alsager, and Mrs Sproston and friends from Biddulph.
