BRAVE mum Karen Tait is setting up a support group for parents like herself with children with a rare form of cancer.
Mrs Tait's 11-year-old son Matthew was diagonosed in April 1997 with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer.
Only 30 new cases are diagnosed each year in the whole of Europe, and Mrs Tait has been told by doctors her son's condition is terminal.
Matthew is now undergoing experimental trials in bid to halt the spread of the cancer, while his parents are seeking to create a self-help group.
"We would like to start a parents network to help and support other parents, relatives, friends and carers of children with their disease,'' said Mrs Tait, who lives in London.
Mrs Tait's mother Sheila Cooper lives in Woodland Road, Rode Heath, and the new group has already sparked the interest of a Biddulph family with a 10-year-old girl with Ewing's.
"Ewing's is a rare bone cancer which mainly affects children between the ages of 10 and 20,'' said Mrs Tait.
"There is little information available through normal cancer help groups, and we hope to be able to help by researching any information we can find and passing it on to those who need it.''
