FAMILIES aiming to keep the countryside clean and green turned out at the weekend for a recycling event near Nantwich.
'Waste Matters' was staged at Bunbury on Saturday to promote recycling and encourage more people to protect the environment.
The day included speakers from the Environment Agency, Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council, 3C Waste and the Bristol Recycling Consortium.
A swap shop was organised where visitors could bring along items they no longer needed and exchange them for other people's, stopping useful objects being thrown away.
And a collection of unwanted fruit and vegetables from the local shop disappeared very quickly to people's homes and a harvest festival.
Borough mayor Ray Stafford attended with Mayoress Shirley Stafford and there were displays and demonstrations from different groups.
