CUP ties took priority in Warrington Soccer League this week.
Two Jubilee Trophy ties ended in teams from lower divisions overcoming higher division opposition. Vulcan defeated Riverplate while Cheshire Grange enjoyed success at Winwick.
Halton Borough beat Runcorn Albion 2-1 thanks to two own goals from the visitors. Andrew Hayes and Ian Edwards were the culprits with David Pitt getting the Albion goal.
Moore's consolation goal came from Paul Bennion in their 3-1 home defeat by Moorfield.
Andrew Hayes and Eddie Manley were on target as Whiston Cross won at Sasib.
In the Depot Cup, third division Croft outgunned second division Irlam Steel 4-3. Their hero was substitute Geoff Risley who notched a late winner. Earlier in the game Lewis Taylor, Neil Cooper and Neil Shacklady found the net for the victorious side while the visitors' replies came from Les Burns and Lee Newbold, two.
Spartak hit eight without reply against Talos. Paul Hibbert helped himself to a treble. A double came from Andy Taylor and there was one apiece from Mark Kennedy, Geoff Howard and Alan McNamee. This scoreline equals their best performance which was achieved in their first game in the league in 1992.
Despite a brilliant goal from Carl Fraser and other efforts by Ricky Walton and Frank McDonald, Tommy's Clock Face crashed 8-3 at Silver Birch.
Crontonians won 3-2 at Dallam. Stand-in goalkeeper Ian Hilton blasted in a spot kick while Lee Holmes and Dave Gennon also got on the scoresheet.
Irlam Catholic Club beat Brookfield 3-1, Phillip Mitchell, Geoff Singleton and Scott Clemens were the goal baggers.
Safeways were 2-0 up in their tie with Travellers Rest thanks to a double from Lee Kinsey. Disaster then struck as Stephen Williams powered in a treble to win the game for his team 3-2, the winner coming in extra-time.
Chris Wilson of Moore Utd grabbed his second successive quadruple as the reserve side won 8-1 at Moorfield 3rd in the Rylands Cup. Their other scorers were Adam Dakin, three and Lee Duane.
There were some league games played.
A Darren Walsh double and one from Dave Clarke gave Orford Youth Club a 3-1 win in their Division Two fixture with Butchers Arms.
In the reserve sections a Peter Jones treble and one apiece from brothers Keith and Paul Greason gave Halton Borough 3rd a 5-0 win against St. Michaels 3rd while Boro's 4th team had a 1-1 draw at Wood Albion, Ian Pritchard being the marksman.
Irlam Catholic Club won 4-3 at Golborne 3rd. David Carlisle netted three and there was one by Paul McNulty.
