Ovenden 22
Crosfields 51
CROSFIELDS Rugby League side blitzed Ovenden in a highly entertaining encounter.
From the first attack Crosfields made their presence felt as a deft chip from Eddie Bannon was pounced upon by Ian Hannon to score.
Andy Holroyd's conversion and a drop-goal from Carl Porter were followed by good interplay from Jamie Stenhouse, Holroyd and Paul Kelly to put Porter through.
An Ovenden try briefly stemmed the flow but Eddie Bannon put Soap back on track.
Russ Parkman rounded the Ovenden full back for a commanding lead but the home side rallied with two converted tries.
A Matt Mahoney try left the half-time score at 27-16.
Any fears of a home side recovery disappeared when Stenhouse charged over shortly after the break. Holroyd converted from the touchline.
Dave Gibbons and Darren Reynolds ran in further tries for Soap before Ovenden hit back with one of their own.
Crosfields completed the scoring with a fine move that saw Chris Campbell scamper over after good work from Eddie Bannon and Stenhouse. Holroyd's kick brought up the half century.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Crosfields will take on London Skolars at Hood Lane, kick-off 2.30pm..
