A WARRINGTON 70-year-old still fighting in judo has been described as 'super human' this week.
Tough Gilly Clifton is thrown about the Manor Lock mat like all the other members of Warrington Samurai Club.
Head coach John Lawrinson says: "He still practices judo with the other members on the mat.
"There's no easy ride when it comes to one-to-one fighting like that. He gets his body smashed about as much as anyone else.
"There can't be many people in the town at the age of 70 that can do what he can do. He is super fit, in fact he is super human. I have never known a bloke as active at his age."
Brown belt Gilly, of Greenalls Avenue, was 70 yesterday, Thursday and members at the club presented him with a silver plaque to honour his birthday and to say thank you for all of his hard work.
Lawrinson says: "He has put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes at this club, the type of work you can't pay people for.
"We have built a new clubhouse and he has been involved with the long term project from the start and all the way through."
