A BIGHEARTED bobby is appealing for charities to step in on a fundraising event after a last-minute cancellation.
Police officer Roy Aspinall has been raising money for Warrington charities for 20 years under the banner of the Charity 999 scheme.
Roy booked two quiz nights at St Oswald's Social Club, Padgate, on the Fridays of October 30 and November 27, but found that the charities involved had to cancel. Now, Roy is worried that the bookings will go to waste.
Said Roy: "All I ask is that the charity sells about 50 tickets and I can guarantee another 50. Apart from providing one or two raffle prizes, no other work is involved. The nights are enjoyable, the questions aren't too tough and all money raised goes to the charity."
