BUSINESS-minded youngsters at Woodford Lodge High School are to learn about the ins and outs of profit making as part of a Young Enterprise project.
A total of 30 Year 10 and 11 pupils have volunteered to take part in the initiative which will run throughout the year.
Each business group will be led by a business advisor from industry who gives them an hour of his time each week after school.
The students have already tried their hand at running a business during an activities day at Crewe and Alsager College where they met with other pupils who are taking part in the project.
They were given various tasks to make them work as a team and organise themselves.
In the afternoon the groups had to set up and run a mini business and were given a fictitious £100 to start up.
They had to sell their products to various buyers which were made up of teachers and advisors.
Donna Ritchie, Young Enterprise Link teacher, said: "The afternoon was fast and furious. Pupils and teachers were enthusiastic and adrenaline was flowing as each business worked hard to make maximum profit.
"There were also extra cash bonuses during the time for clean working premises etc.
"At the end of the day everyone was exhausted yet we all had learned valuable lessons and the pupils were more than eager to begin their own year in business with Young Enterprise."
