AS you may be aware, the people of Lostock Gralam are fighting a desperate battle to stop Vale Royal putting a huge industrial estate on prime farm land and wildlife habitat.

Despite the recommendations of two Government inspectors, Mr Martin Bell MP, Macclesfield Council, The Farmers Union, CPRE, and more than a thousand local people, the council still proposes to desecrate the village of Lostock Gralam.

These proposals, if implemented, would create in the region of 25,000 extra traffic movements, mainly heavy goods vehicles, every week.

We would lose forever some of the finest countryside and farmland in Cheshire. If we don't make a stand, the whole of Cheshire will be built on.

Help stop this madness by making your views known in writing by October 13, to Alan Thornley, County Planning Officer, Cheshire County Council, Commerce House, Hunter Street, Chester, CH1 2QP.

George Mather,

Lostock Gralam.
