GAVIN Tier has been dismissed from Middlewich Town following his sending-off for a headbutt against Lostock Gralam last week.
The club has taken a firm stance on discipline and chairman Steve Morris confirmed their decision after a committee meeting earlier this week.
He said: "The unanimous decision of the committee after appropriate deliberation is that the services of Gavin Tier are no longer required, and the secretary has deregistered him as a player for Middlewich Town FC."
Despite the loss of Tier, manager Dave Twite is confident he will soon have his strongest possible squad and he was buoyed by the win over Chester Nomads in the FA Amateur Cup on Saturday.
Twite said: "We played some controlled football against a very well-organised side.
"Steve Moss showed all the touches of class I've been waiting for since I signed him in the summer.
"Also, we are getting players back from injuries and holidays and are nearly back to full strength. With Dave Heywood a week away from fitness and Gareth Langley out for two weeks, these are the only two players we are missing."
Town are away to Linotype in the Mid-Cheshire League Division One this Saturday.
