MIDDLEWICH sandwich shop The Butty Bar has stirred up support for Macmillan Cancer Relief by helping stage the 'World's Biggest Coffee Morning'.
The Wheelock Street shop joined thousands of businesses and organisations around Britain to take part in the charity event last Friday.
The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is in its eighth year and has already won itself a place in the Guinness Book of Records when more than half-a-million people took part in some 15,000 coffee mornings around the country, raising more than £1.5 million in just a few hours.
Butty Bar owner Sandra Sandland raised £530 for the organisation.
She said: "We did really well. Our aim was to raise £400 and so we were delighted that we managed to collect more.
"About 200 people supported us on the day. It was a huge success.
"Our next idea is to have a soup kitchen in January in aid of St Luke's Hospice."
A spokeswoman from Macmillan Cancer Relief said: "We are working towards the day when everyone will have equal and ready access to the best information, treatment and care for cancer."
