What we have in Lostock are two residential homes for the elderly, a primary school, two playing fields either side of the main road and a post office on the main road, all of which are used at peak periods of traffic.

The traffic that passes through now at any time until 10pm at night consists of 25-35 haulage wagons per hour even before any development is done.

Bearing in mind that this development could be built anywhere in the north west, because it is a feeder service for Chester, Manchester, Warrington, Wales etc, I would ask councillors to think again. These are your voters you are going against and they will all remember your decisions on voting day.

What makes all this so puzzling is that Tony Blair's new government is using the clear fact that traffic should be taken away from congested areas to save the environment, that we should keep our heritage and not build on green field sites and that we should sit down today to help our children to get to school safely.

Please think again Labour councillors and try to work for the Labour Government and the voters.
