Alan Carr, who teaches computer science at Mid Cheshire College, has indulged his love of photography with a portfolio of pictures from the secluded valley of Dyffryn Nantlle.
And the locals were so impressed with his work that they asked him to mount his own exhibition.
"They were very grateful for the work I have done on the area," said Alan, of Village Close, Lostock Green.
"And when they asked me if I could set up the exhibition at the Welsh Slate Museum, I was happy to oblige."
Alan has immortalised the area in a booklet, entitled Dyffryn Nantlle: A Landscape of Neglect, which features his own photos and some background notes.
He added: "My photos tell a story of decay, abandonment and a lost way of life."
You can see Alan's work at the Welsh Slate Museum, Llanberis, Caernarfonshire, from October 11 until November 29.
