Knutsford A 3

Broadheath Central 2

KNUTSFORD survived a late onslaught by the home side to take all three points from a difficult game.

Broadheath took the lead after only ten minutes after Sheldon lost his footing and left the surprised home-team striker with a clear path to goal.

Knutsford responded well, Evans hitting the woodwork and Francis causing all sorts of problems with his aggressive running up front.

After 20 minutes Evans made the breakthrough, smashing home a great shot from 10 yards.

With half-time approaching Knutsford were beginning to look the better side as Francis, with perfect timing, made it 2-1 just before the whistle.

In the second-half Broadheath showed a more physical side to their game, but the visitors took it in their stride.

On 60 minutes, Francis rose majestically at the far post to head home Shepherd's's cross for Knutsford's third.

Broadheath were awarded a dubious penalty but Roberts, at full stretch pulled off a great save.

The best move of the game resulted in a bullet header from Evans, brilliantly tipped round the post by home-team keeper Webb.

Knutsford should then have been cruising, but squandered possession to concede a late goal.

Broadheath mounted their challenge, but at full stretch the visitors survived the onslaught.

On Saturday, Knutsford are away to Finbar Macs. Kick off 2pm.
