PLANS for a town centre development have been changed - for the third time.
New proposals for the former Hewitts' site in King Street now include at least two restaurants.
Site owner Bill Batley also wants to create parking for 100 cars on the Moor.
But yesterday (Tuesday) borough planning chairman Clr Tony Mazzeo said there had been too many changes.
"The original plans were for a delightful development and I am not in favour of changing it," he said.
"Now it is going to be altered too much from the amended original plan."
The new application - due to be discussed by borough councillors next month - includes basement and ground floor eating places.
Eight years ago Mr Batley, of TCP Investments, was given permission to for a 70-space car park, serving the site - an eyesore for nearly 10 years.
"We are now building on the old permission, but we want to change the use from a bank.
"We have been told that minor internal alterations inside are acceptable. It will be nice when it is finished.
"I am happy with the development - now we are not getting as much aggro about it, we can get on with it."
