Applicant Derek Panagakis wants to transform first-floor office and retail space at the Old Town Hall into an eating area, kitchen and dance floor.
In addition he hopes to build an extension at the Halifax Building Society end.
Yesterday (Tuesday) Clr Bill Davies, who'd expressed support for the nightclub, expressed some reservations.
"I would support a nightclub for teenagers, but a champagne lounge sounds a little upmarket for young people," he said.
"We don't need anywhere else for adults to go. The youngsters need a Babycham lounge - not a champagne lounge."
Yesterday, Mr Panagakis was unavailable for comment.
And Ian Perry, of Heaton Design Ltd, agents for Mr Panagakis, said it was 'too early' to comment on the plans.
Magistrates will discuss Mr Panagakis' application for a liquor licence on October 14.
Knutsford's planners are expected to discuss the nightclub plans on November 4.
