THE EYES had it for drivers looking to learn about road safety when Halton police offered free sight tests to motorists outside Morrisons supermarket.
Halton Traffic division brought a mobile unit to Widnes in an effort to improve road safety awareness.
And two ladies reeled off their rules of the road to win Sunday lunches out at hotels in Halton.
Mary Critchan and Beryl Thomas were presented with their prizes on Tuesday at Runcorn Police Station.
Cons Alan Webb, whose idea the roadshow was, said: "It is the first time really we have done anything like this.
"The over-riding aim is that we want to reduce traffic accidents in Halton."
Cons Webb said quite a lot of interest had been shown in the initiative: "One of the ways of preventing accidents is by education, and we are here to do that. Perhaps we haven't done enough of this in the past. It can't be all enforcement."
Alan added that he was trying to interest people in improving their driving skills by signing up to advanced motoring courses.
