Real Maghull u10s 4
Halton Borough Girls u10s 1
THIS was certainly the proverbial game of two halves. The fist-half everything went right for Halton. They played as a unit and toally dominated the game.
Joanne Lunt in goal was again outstanding, defenders Danielle Watson and Roxanne Brennan stopped everything that came at them.
Midfielders Dawn Milliken, Carly Quick and team captain Nikki Murray were superb, Murray receiving the mom award, and this was probably her best game for Halton so far this season.
Nessie Whitley upfront also played superbly and it was her break through the Maghull defence and blockbuster shot which put Halton in the lead.
The second-half was a different story, the Maghull outfit who are physically bigger and more experienced side put the pressure on Halton and managed to overturn the deficit and eventually went 4-1 up. Not even the inclusion of sub, Sarah Lunt, could change the scoreline around.
It is fair to say Maghull deserved to win but the scoreline does flatter them.

HALTON can hold their heads up high after a magnificent effort in a highly entertaining competition game.
Despite the scoreline, Halton were still very much in this game until 10 minutes before full-time.
The scoreline certainly doesn't reflect how closely matched these two teams were.
The Halton team, 2-0 down by half-time, could easily have been ahead by the break.
They played some excellent football and competed with the Wirral side every step of the way.
Several times the Halton trio of mom, Kelly Jones, Lucy Osborne and Natalie Brady, carved open the Tranmere defence, only for a save or poor finishing to result, whereas Tranmere took their chances well.
Lauren Farrell in the Halton goal was certainly the busier keeper as she had another excellent game, particularly in the second-half, when she tipped a thunderbolt over the bar to save a certain goal.
Emma Kirby and Vicky Jones performed heroics at the back, against a strong, physical attack.
Leading goalscorer from last season, Hannah Pauline, made a welcome return to the side following a lengthy lay-off from injury, and worked hard with little reward.
Another Halton player made her debut in this game, Kayleigh Wilcox, from Widnes, certainly didn't look out of place and worked hard to try and get her side back in the game, but it wasn't to be.
On another day a performance like this would have brought a certain win.
Given the Borough team's attitude and commitment, that day wont be far off.
