ANGRY residents are up in arms about pub landlord Antony Wilson's plans to stage late-night functions.
Mr Wilson runs The Lodge Inn in Crewe Road, Alsager, for which he is seeking a full annual public entertainment licence.
Mr Wilson wants to stage music and dance nights from 7pm to midnight on Monday to Saturday, and music only on Sunday from 7pm to 10.30pm.
However the move has sparked protests from residents living across from the pub in Church Road.
Lindsey Smith said she lived 40 yards from the inn, whose younger customers had led to an increase in noise from the pub.
Granting the licence being sought was not appropriate in a residential area, she said, and her three young children would not be able to sleep because of the noise.
Mrs K Galletley said she could hear the noise from live music at the pub late one night in August, and "dreaded'' to think how loud and frequent such noise would become if the licence was granted.
"The upstairs room where the functions are proposed is only 20 yards from an old peoples home, and Church Road is a quiet residential area of tranquil family homes,'' she said.
Mr and Mrs Maclean said granting the licence would make worse problems of late-night traffic noise and pollution and litter.
