INMATES at Risley Prison are to be treated to an afternoon of culture by a renowned opera company.
An audience of 200 prisoners will be given a performance of Leonard Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti by the Opera North company today, Friday.
The concert has been made possible by a £2,000 donation from British Nuclear Fuels Ltd, as part of their bid to aid the community.
Spokesperson for BNFL, Janine Doran, said: "We were approached by Opera North themselves for help with funding the project. We have a support in the community programme which we use to help a number of worthwhile projects in the area.
"They said they were impressed by our genuine desire to serve the community."
The opera is a light hearted bitter sweet tale about the relationship of a married couple.
