AN ADVENTUROUS businessman is swapping wet and windy Warrington for the rough desert and mountain terrain of India in a bid to raise thousands for charity.

David Teale, of Teale Consulting, based at St James Court on Wilderspool Causeway will be leaving office life behind for a week to embark on an exhausting 341 km bicycle ride for Whizz-Kidz.

The eastern expedition will see the 46-year-old recruitment boss travel through some of India's most stunning and difficult landscape including a tiger reservation, the abandoned royal city of Satehpur-Sikri and the magnificence of the Taj Mahal.

David said: "It will be quite an adventure. When I first read about the trip it captured my imagination. I thought if I didn't try to do it I might not get another chance."

He is about to start a strict training regime to get in shape but hopes past experience will stand him in good stead.

"I've cycled from Manchester to Blackpool several times and a coast to coast run of 150 miles in three days. But I'm told I'm guaranteed to have a sore bottom at the end of this one," he said.

David hopes his intrepid efforts will raise more than £3,500 for the charity, which provides mobility equipment for disabled youngsters. Anyone who would like to pledge support can contact him on 242660.
